The short version: MomGist is built to lift the mental load off parents — not to harvest your data. We keep what you enter mostly on your own device, we don't sell your information, and we tell you plainly when money is involved. The details are below.

Who we are

MomGist ("we," "us," "our") provides a personal-assistant app and website at momgist.com that helps parents keep track of birthdays, school dates, and gift-giving, and suggests products through third-party retailers. This policy explains what information we handle and how.

Information you give us

To make MomGist useful, you may choose to enter:

Your account details — such as your name and email address when you sign in.
Family details you add — like a child's first name, birth month and year, and the people and holidays you choose to be reminded about.
Events you add or photograph — invitations, school dates, and supply lists you type in or snap a picture of.
Emails you choose to forward — if you use our email-forwarding feature, we only ever receive the specific messages you forward to us. We do not connect to or read your inbox.

About children's information: MomGist is intended for use by parents and adults, not by children. Any details about a child are entered by the parent to make reminders and suggestions helpful. We ask only for limited information (like a first name and birth month) and never knowingly collect information directly from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

Where your information lives

Much of what you enter — your kids' profiles, saved events, and preferences — is stored on your own device so the app can work for you. Some information may be processed on secure servers (for example, to read a photo you took or to generate a gift suggestion). We aim to keep server-side data to the minimum needed to provide the feature you asked for.

How we use information

To remind you about events and suggest relevant gifts and products.
To read invitations, flyers, or supply lists you photograph, and turn them into events or shopping lists.
To improve how MomGist works.
To respond to you if you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers to target you.

Artificial intelligence features

Some features (such as reading a photographed invite or suggesting gifts) use AI processing. When you use these features, the relevant content — for example, the photo you chose to scan or the details of the gift you're looking for — is sent securely to be processed and returned to you. We don't use this to build advertising profiles of you.

Third-party shopping links & affiliate relationships

MomGist suggests products from third-party retailers such as Amazon, Target, and others. When you tap a shopping link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from that retailer — at no additional cost to you. This is how MomGist stays free.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click a link to a retailer, you leave MomGist and are subject to that retailer's own privacy policy and terms. We don't control how those retailers collect or use your information, so we encourage you to review their policies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.

Cookies & analytics

Our website may use basic cookies or similar tools to keep the site working and understand general usage. Third-party retailers and affiliate networks may also use cookies to credit a purchase you make after clicking their link. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Your choices & rights

You can view, edit, or delete the family details and events you've added, at any time, in the app's Settings.
You can delete all of your data from your device using the "Delete everything" option in Settings.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights to access or delete your information. Contact us and we'll help.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard what you share with us and to limit what we collect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MomGist grows. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
